The Secret to Sticking with Fitness (It’s Not What You Think)

Adults over 50 enjoying community-focused strength training in Austin at Stowe Training

Every day at 4 PM, I head to daycare to pick up my sweet Ella Bella.

Usually, she’s out on the playground, running around with her friends, and I wait until she’s ready so I don’t cut her fun short. But yesterday, with the cold and rain, I knew they’d be inside.

I walked in expecting her to be excited to see me.

Nope.

She took one look at me and said “No.”

Why?

Because all the kids were sitting around a table, “eating” ice cream.

Not real ice cream—little plastic cones with toy scoops stacked on top, learning to count numbers and name colors. But Ella was all in. One scoop was enough, and there she was, licking her imaginary ice cream like it was the real deal.

I didn’t have the heart to pull her away.

And honestly, I loved seeing it. Because while a part of me was sad that she wasn’t running into my arms, another part of me was really, really happy.

Happy that she’s in a place she loves. A place where she’s having fun all day.

What That Has to Do With Fitness

That’s when it hit me—this is the secret to sticking with fitness.

The best results I’ve ever had personally? They didn’t come from sheer willpower. They came when I was training with a great group of people, because when something is fun, it’s way easier to show up.

If I asked you, “Hey, want to go have some fun?”—it’s an easy yes, right?

And that’s exactly what we create at Stowe Training.

An intentional community where you look forward to showing up, hanging out, and just doing smart fitness together.

You Don’t Need More Willpower. You Need a Better Atmosphere.

If you’ve ever blamed yourself for “not sticking with it,” this post proves it’s not about grit—it’s about environment. Our 50+ community in Central Austin is built on support, fun, and results. Let’s build something that keeps you coming back.
