I’m pretty sure I read more books in my first year after college than I did in the entire four years during college.
And that’s saying something because I went to Trinity University in San Antonio, which wasn’t exactly “show up and pass.” But honestly? College for me wasn’t about burying my nose in textbooks.
It was about figuring out who the heck I actually was.
I’d been valedictorian in high school, so I knew how to get the grades. But once I got to college, I thought, “As long as I keep the GPA up, I’m going to focus on this whole being-a-human thing.”
No regrets. I’m me because of that.
But once I became a fitness coach… yeah, that flipped real quick.
Suddenly, I wasn’t just learning for me—I was learning for you.
I’ll never forget one of the other trainers catching me with my nose in a book and saying,
“Stowe, I swear you’d take a class during a snow day.”
He wasn’t wrong.
I dove headfirst into every book, article, and study I could get my hands on. Why? Because I knew I couldn’t just rely on looking fit or being a fun guy to hang out with.
People don’t pay good money for a buddy—they pay for someone who knows how to get them results.
And I was determined to be that person.
