My mom’s been saying it for years—
“You’ve always followed the beat of your own drum.”
She’s not wrong.
If something doesn’t make sense to me, I’m out. I don’t care if it’s the most popular thing since sliced bread—if it feels off, I’m not doing it.
Ella’s the same way. She’s two, but if she’s got her mind set on something, forget it. That drumbeat? She’s marching.
Now, I tell you this because that same mindset led me to make a business decision that had people scratching their heads.
A few years ago, I had three full-time trainers working under me. Business was booming, everything looked solid… but I wasn’t feeling it.
So I hit reset.
I let the team go and went back to just me, training my clients one-on-one.
Now, when people ask what I do and I tell them I’m a personal trainer—solo—I can see it in their eyes. “Oh… must not be doing that great.”
Plot twist—
That decision was probably the best one I’ve ever made.
And now, I’m watching top fitness pros—people I used to learn from—adopt the same model.
So what does this have to do with you?
Everything.
Because that same instinct—the one that told me to skip the flashy stuff and do what actually works—
That’s exactly how I approach fitness.
Especially if you’re over 50.
Most mainstream fitness advice? Built for the masses.
Random bootcamps.
Crazy HIIT workouts.
Sweat-soaked “leave it all on the floor” nonsense.
None of it’s designed for someone dealing with stiff joints, meds, or the simple goal of wanting to move better and feel stronger without feeling broken.
That’s not what I do.
At Stowe Training, everything is built around the idea that fitness for 50+ should be:
- Personalized – Tailored to your body, your goals, and where you’re at today.
- Sustainable – Because short-term fixes don’t last.
- Enjoyable – If you dread it, you won’t stick to it. Plain and simple.
You don’t have to wreck yourself to get stronger. You just need the right plan—and maybe a coach who listens to the beat of a slightly different drum.
Not Just a Business—A Better Way to Train
I restructured everything around what actually works—personalized, one-on-one training for adults 50+ in Central Austin. No fluff. No fads. Just real coaching for real people. Let’s build your program together.

“Nate is hands down the best trainer I’ve worked with! He customizes the workout plan to my needs and wants and adjusts for my lifestyle as it adapts. He meets me where I’m at and goes with that pace.”
