The Time Everyone Thought I Was Fluent in Spanish

"Adult client learning proper fitness techniques in Central Austin personal training session."

Back in high school, my tiny hometown had a French requirement. The problem? We couldn’t find a French teacher.

So, instead of learning the language, we all got an automatic “A” and spent the period goofing off in the library. Seemed like a great deal at the time.

Then, I got to college and hit a roadblock—everyone had to take a foreign language placement test. If you didn’t pass, you had to take three semesters of a language.

Now, I knew I didn’t know French. And since I planned on living in Texas, Spanish made way more sense anyway. But here I was, about to take a test in a language I had never studied.

I looked at the first question…

Then the second…

Then, I signed my name, turned the test in blank, and walked out.

No point in pretending—I needed Spanish lessons.

Funny enough, for years my friends thought I was fluent because I turned the test in so fast.

What does this have to do with fitness?

A lot of people treat the gym like I treated that Spanish test. They show up, look around, maybe try a few machines, and hope for the best.

But just like me with Spanish, most people need a structured plan to see results.

If you’ve been winging it and feeling stuck, stop trying to “figure it out” alone. A proven plan with expert guidance can save you time, frustration, and disappointment.

Stop Guessing. Start Progressing.
