It’s been busy at the studio lately—lots of new faces walking in the door, trying something they’ve never done before.
That part always excites me.
It reminds me of watching Shawshank Redemption with someone who’s never seen it.
You know what’s coming.
They don’t.
And that moment when it all clicks?
You can’t wait for them to feel it.
That’s how I feel watching someone step under a barbell for the first time…
and realize their body isn’t broken after all.
They’re not stuck.
Not too old.
Not too far gone.
Just like Andy wasn’t trapped forever.
But what most people don’t realize—especially when they’re just starting—is this:
You’re gonna be sore.
Not “can’t move” sore.
Not “skip the grandkids” sore.
But stiff. Achey. A little beat up.
That’s part of it.
Most people’s instinct is to reach for ibuprofen.
(They’re blue, right? I wouldn’t know—I’ve taken maybe five in my life.)
But here’s the irony: that little pill might quietly cancel out the very results you’re chasing.
That soreness you feel?
It’s your body adapting.
Low-grade inflammation is the spark that triggers new muscle and bone growth.
Take that away, and you’re basically hitting the brakes on progress.
The smarter play?
Start with a plan that builds your body up—without burning it out. Something that accounts for the soreness and has a way to take care of it proactively without the medicine cabinet…
