When I was 24, I joined a brewery’s softball team—mostly because they offered free beer. 😉
As a former All-District baseball player, I figured I’d be a good addition to their lineup of 40-something factory workers.
But during warm-ups, I noticed something strange.
Everyone was casually tossing the ball around, beers at their feet.
Meanwhile, I was off doing dynamic stretches—cariocas, backpedals, butt kicks.
Why? Because the real action in softball isn’t throwing; it’s running.
You sprint to first base, chase fly balls, and hustle for plays.
Even though I knew my warm-up was spot on, I felt awkward standing out.
Everyone else was just playing catch, and there I was, the youngest guy on the field, doing a full-on track routine.
Here’s the thing: sometimes, doing what’s right feels a little uncomfortable.
But results come from preparation—not popularity.
The same goes for fitness.
People jump into random workouts or trendy programs, hoping for results.
But the ones who succeed are the ones who take a tailored, strategic approach.
