If you’re trying to improve your bone density…
More exercise isn’t automatically better.
Your bones need a reason to adapt.
That means we need enough stress to get their attention.
But once we’ve done that?
Adding more sets…
More reps…
More exercises…
And more days…
Doesn’t automatically mean more bone.
It DOES mean more stuff you have to recover from.
That’s why when I train someone concerned about bone density, I’m not trying to see how much exercise they can survive.
I’m trying to find the smallest appropriate dose that gives us the adaptation we’re looking for…
Then build from there.
Your bones need a reason to get stronger.
They don’t need to be punished.
Want Stronger Bones? Stop Assuming More Exercise Is Better.
Here’s the problem with the usual advice:
If a little exercise is good, people assume more must be better.
More sets.
More reps.
More exercises.
More days.
But your bones don’t hand out bonus points because you finished the workout exhausted.
They need the right stimulus…
Followed by enough recovery to adapt to it.
That’s why my goal with adults over 50 isn’t to discover how much exercise you can survive.
It’s to find the appropriate dose that helps you get stronger… without unnecessarily beating up your joints, your back, or the rest of you in the process.
Your bones need a reason to get stronger.
They don’t need to be punished.
If You’d Rather Stop Guessing…
My personal training program in Austin is built specifically for adults over 50 who want to become stronger while training around old injuries, cranky joints, and the realities of having a body that’s been around for a few decades.
I handle the exercises, weights, repetitions, progression and adjustments.
You don’t need to figure out how much is enough.
That’s my job.
Not Ready for Coaching Yet?
Fine.
Don’t buy anything until you’re convinced.
But don’t confuse not buying yet with doing nothing.
Start with these:
- Strength Training and Bone Health After 50 in Austin — why your bones need appropriate loading in the first place.
- Too Many Options: Simplifying Strength Training After 50 — because more choices usually aren’t what gets better results.
- The Best Strength Training Method for Adults Over 50 — how to think about choosing the right kind of training instead of chasing the hardest workout.
- Why a Good Fitness Program Needs Guard Rails — how smart program design helps you progress without constantly worrying about getting hurt.
Read first. Think second. Decide third.
