Storm hit hard Wednesday night, didn’t it?
Honestly, I ignored the warnings. Weather folks cry wolf so often in Austin, I figured this would be another nothingburger.
So Ella and I hit the park like usual. We found one of those tandem swings—the kind where she could lean back into me while we soared together. Just pure joy.
But as we pulled into the driveway—bam. Clouds rolled in and it went from daylight to blackout in seconds. Every time lightning struck, the sky lit up like a giant camera flash. You could’ve read a newspaper out there.
House was fine.
The studio? Not so much.
I woke up to find the power was out and the roof was leaking—again.
Now, I had a full day lined up: 5–6am lift, 6–7 admin work, 7–12 coaching, and a 12:50 tee time. But instead, I was texting clients in the dark and reshuffling everything.
So I made a call—move everyone to Saturday and take the day off.
Honestly? It ended up being a gift.
I got a quick nap in (6:30–7:30 counts, right?), soaked up some morning snuggles with Ella, dropped her off at daycare, checked the studio (still no power), and did a sweaty, lights-out workout just for the hell of it.
Then I hit Academy, grabbed a buddy, and made it to the course early enough to warm up before blasting balls deep into the woods—where they belong—without throwing my back out.
That day didn’t go remotely as planned—
but it gave me the kind of reminder I usually have to earn the hard way.
Stuff’s gonna happen. Storms, setbacks, scheduling issues. That’s life.
But how you respond? That’s the part you control.
So maybe you’ve been waiting to start. Maybe you’ve had reasons. I get it.
But there will always be something next.
If you keep waiting for the “perfect” moment—you’ll wait forever.
Your future is coming no matter what. You might as well shape it on your terms.
