[What if I’m not Feeling Motivated?]
Our 2 year studio anniversary is coming up this Friday.
It got me to thinking about the fact that I have been lifting weights for around 15 or 16 years old.
Besides making me feel old I also was thinking about what has kept me motivated for this long.
Those “newbie” gains are LONG gone……
It really comes down to 2 things.
Having a workout partner is huge.
Anytime I’m feeling a little tired or not motivated I just HATE to cancel on my partner.
So I don’t.
I show up.
And I promise I NEVER regret showing up after we are done.
This is one of the major reasons we do semi-private training at our studio instead of private training.
Everyone gets used to seeing their friends and when someone misses the rest of the group notices and asks “what happened?”
Having a group of like-minded people to surround yourself with is priceless.
The second thing I do is focus on the process.
Let me elaborate.
We are always motivated to do things that we are good at.
If we are good at softball, darts, checkers, or bridge we will want to do these activities for the sake of doing them.
Same thing with weight training.
If we focus on the process and getting GOOD at it instead of the end result we will want to show up lift for the sake of showing up and lifting…..
Without a doubt these 2 simple things have been the “secret” to keeping myself and many others motivated for years on end.
Hope that helps!
