Laura and I had a GREAT time in Orlando.
We got to surround ourselves with some of the brightest minds in the fitness industry, learn a bunch of stuff, and spent a day at Animal Kingdom.
Best of all the studio didn’t burn down while I was gone ;/)
While our workshop was on “business” stuff I found plenty of parallels that I thought applied to fitness.
I’m in a “list” type of mood today so that seems like the simplest way to share my take-aways with you.
In no particular order, here is what is going to help you be successful with your fitness in 2018:
*Consistency. There is no “magic pill” that is going to fix everything for you. Lift weights, eat like an adult, go to bed on time. Nothing too crazy here but that is what works if you do it more often than not.
*Teamwork. It is WAY easier to achieve massive goals with a team than it is by yourself. Find others to add to your team to help you succeed. It may be me coaching you or perhaps a meal prep company. The Avengers figured this out…you don’t see Captain America trying to beat Thanos by himself now do you?
*Planning. My marketing plan is laid out 1 year in advance. We should do the same with our fitness schedule. Right now (seriously do this now) look at your calendar and see where/when you will be traveling, holidays you want to celebrate, whether or not you are going to do something for SXSW, ACL, or any of the other 100 events here in Austin. If you plan ahead you can accommodate and be successful.
*Solutions. Instead of thinking of the reasons you can’t do something focus instead of what you CAN do. People who are always solution focused will be successful.
*Avoid “Shiny Object” syndrome. When sharing what was working all the most successful folks had a common theme. Avoiding the next shiny object and instead focusing on what we know works. Once we have a plan in place (lift weights, eat like an adult, go to bed on time) we need to focus on this and not jump to the next “thing” we see as we scroll through Facebook. Stay on point.
*Have Fun. You will spend 1/3 of your life at your business/job. It should be fun. Same thing with fitness. Find things that you like because you are going to be doing them for as long as you possibly can.
