For this story, the real names will remain secret out of respect for my wonderful clients. Therefore, Joanie & Chachi will suffice.
To clarify, it should be Joanie & Ellen – or something like that – as this is a tale of two women who lost over 100lbs training with me.
Consequently, both gained some weight back (about 50lbs) during the “I was figuring out what to do with my life” – the process of moving into management at a big box gym before starting up Stowe Training Systems.
As such, the duo began working with me on the same day I started up Stowe Training Systems.
Training with me three times a week on the same days at the same time.
Their exercise program was 90% similar to the biggest differences in accounting for their own pre-existing injuries.
Joanie was perfect!
Always on time (early even) asking to do ‘1 more rep’ or ‘1 more set’. In addition, she got her 10,000 steps in between weight training sessions while planning, weighing, and cooking all her own food.
In fact, she would never cheat.
Joanie had great success and lost 20lbs that year.
Ellen was good too but always showed up a little late for workouts (about 15 minutes), didn’t count steps between workouts to ensure she hit her targets, didn’t weigh her food, and wasn’t afraid to cheat once or twice a week.
She lost 40lbs that year.
Well, Joanie was in her early 60’s and Ellen was 30.
The older we get the more effort it requires to get “fewer results”.
It sucks and isn’t fair, I know.
Now that doesn’t mean you CAN’T get results!!!
Joanie went on to lose the remaining 30lbs and back to the 100lbs total. It just took a little longer and with a bit more effort than if she was 30 years younger.
Now, it’s almost never too late to start.
I urge you to not let this story discourage you and hope that you now know that someone could lose 50lbs in their 60’s, and, that if you start a little bit sooner than you normally would that it is a little bit easier for YOU to do.
You can do this fitness thing too.
