Imagine you are driving to grab lunch with your grandkids one day and you came to a stop at a train light.
Without knowing it, you accidentally stop on the train tracks as the train is coming. You jump out of the car in an attempt to open the back seat doors to let your grandkids out, but, the door is stuck.
Time is running out and the train continues to barrel towards you.
There is only one choice now – Push The Car Off The Tracks!
You drop your knees, lower your shoulder, take a huge breath, and hold it while pushing with all of your might against the car.
Fear not, this story does have a happy ending. In this scenario, you are successful in moving the car, but I hope the takeaway remains the same.
When pushing as hard as possible to save the lives of someone you love, you instinctively take a big breath and hold it to produce as much force as possible.
Same thing when trying to lift a heavy object in the weight room – deadlifts, squats, pushups, etc…
Take a deep breath and hold it before and during the act of lifting the heavy object. You will be surprised at how much stronger and more stable you will be.
Would love to know if you try this out and how you felt,
