When it comes to improving my health and fitness, one of the most powerful “games” I like to play is Don’t Break The Streak.
The rules are simple.
Pick one or two things that you will do every single day, then, see how long you can keep the streak going.
Get a physical calendar and put a checkmark or an “X” on every single day that you keep the streak going. If you do somehow break the streak; simply start a new streak immediately to beat your previous record.
The key is to have a way of physically marking off the “X” or “checkmark”. It is a very powerful and motivational tool, making the rule to follow simple.
Here is a handful I have used with success in the past with both clients and myself:
- Don’t Drink Alcohol
- Don’t Hit The Snooze Button
- Eat Only Real Food (Bread, sweets, etc.)
- Don’t Miss A Planned Workout
Tons of things to choose from with some more challenging than others.
Just pick one OR two…more than that is too much and see how long you can keep your streak going.
As always, let me know how this works for you!
Nate
