I started to work with Nate 3 months after lumbar spinal fusion surgery. I followed strict doctor orders for 12 weeks after surgery to not bend, lift, or twist at all! After that 12 week time period had passed the doctor gave me strict orders to start light physical therapy to engage my core and glutes. I immediately called Nate and asked for his help.
I was very anxious for our first session. Would I be able to do anything? Am I going to hurt my back or cause complications with my spinal fusion? Nate completely put my mind to rest with the first workout. He took my doctors orders and created a routine that engaged my core and glutes AND kept me pain free. Nate spent many hours enforcing what a neutral spine looks and feels like as I exercise and live my life! I was amazed. I had worked with an assortment of personal trainers for the past 8 years, but no one had taught me the things Nate was exposing me to. Many workouts I wanted to add weight, but Nate was always the voice of reason saying, “No, that is not what your doctor has ordered. Brooke, you need to have patiences. There is plenty of time to add weight.”
Now I am 10 months out of surgery, and my doctor has cleared me to do anything I want. There is no fear of me moving the 3 screws in my spine. Due to the core and glute work Nate and I did for over 3 months, I am stronger than I have ever been. Currently, Nate and I are working on a strength and conditioning program to get me ready for my PGA Player’s Ability Test. (36 holes in one day and having my score be no more than 15 over par for all 36 holes.) I am going to need to be stronger and more fit than I ever have in my life (I lost 18lbs of pure FAT while only hoping to get a stronger back – Amazing). With Nate’s help, I am completely confident I will be able to accomplish this goal! I have attached a picture of my spinal fusion, and a a recent picture of me playing golf with a steel shaft being bent due to my strength. Nate can help anyone achieve any goal. Give him a chance!!!
