My biggest philosophy behind each client’s program is the concept of the Kinetic Chain.
Kinetic Chain means that everything in our body is connected – your thumbs are connected to your toes for example.
The only problem with the definition is that when someone hears the word “chain” they think of, well…a chain.
Instead, I like to think of throwing a rock into a pond. When the rock lands it creates a ripple effect.
For instance, our body, the “rock” is our pelvis and the “ripple effect” is everything above and below our pelvis. By getting our pelvis into a more neutral alignment we are able to have our back, shoulders, and knees align in a more favorable position.
In fact, when everything is aligned we can THEN begin to directly target our body parts above and below with greater efficiency – exercises like deadlifts, lunges, and pushups will all be easier to do correctly.
With this concept in mind, here is the warmup I teach 99% of my coaching clients when they begin:
*Dead Bugs – 5/side
*Glute Bridge – 10
*Marching Glute Bridge – 10/side
*Side Plank – 5 Breathes/Side
*Reach Backs – 8/side
*Plank – 5 Breathes
Introducing the above warmup into your routine helps get your core, glutes, and mid-back muscles functioning more optimally so that we can move into “bigger bang” exercises with a shortened learning curve and start sculpting our bods ☺
