Sometimes I take an exercise away

One of the things I’ve gotten pretty good at over the years is knowing when to take an exercise away.

Not because it’s a bad exercise.

Not because somebody can’t do it.

But because sometimes it just isn’t worth the trouble.

Maybe their knee has been bothering them.

Maybe they didn’t sleep well.

Maybe they’re coming back after a couple weeks away.

Or maybe I just don’t like what I’m seeing that day.

So we change something.

We might make the exercise easier.

We might do a different variation.

Or we might skip it altogether.

And you know what?

Nobody loses their strength because we made one workout a little easier.

But I’ve seen plenty of people lose weeks of training because they tried to push through something they probably shouldn’t have.

There’s a difference between doing enough to get stronger…

And doing so much that you can’t come back and do it again.

Want to Get Stronger After 50 Without Constantly Starting Over?

Here’s something most fitness programs won’t tell you.

The exercise you DON’T do today might be the reason you’re still getting stronger six months from now.

Because there’s no prize for pushing through a bad knee, an irritated shoulder, or a back that’s telling you something isn’t right.

And there’s certainly no benefit to spending three weeks recovering from a workout that should have been modified in the first place.

At Stowe Personal Training in Austin, Texas, I help adults over 50 build real, lasting strength with workouts designed around their abilities, limitations, and goals.

No bootcamps. No burpees. No trying to keep up with somebody half your age.

Just one coach, one plan, and a sensible way to get stronger without unnecessary setbacks.

If you’re tired of getting hurt every time you try to get back in shape, here’s where I’d suggest starting.

Not Ready to Hire a Personal Trainer Yet?

Fair enough. You shouldn’t spend a dime until you’re convinced you’re making a good decision.

But don’t make the mistake of confusing more exercise with better exercise.

Here are four articles worth reading before your next workout:

“Nobody loses their strength because we made one workout a little easier.”

But I’ve seen plenty of people lose weeks of training because they pushed through something they shouldn’t have.

Train smart. Train consistently. Train persistently.
Can’t lose.
