You Can Do Everything Right…

One of my long-time clients is a car guy.

Has a mid-70s baby blue Barracuda in mint condition.

Favorite shirt says something like:

“Better to be 20 in the 70s than 70 in the 20s.”

Anyway, he was telling me a story the other day.

A guy had completely rebuilt the engine on one of those classic cars.

Took him forever.

Every detail done right.

Finally fires it up…

and it’s perfect.

Just humming.

(Or so the car guys say — they all sound the same to me.)

Then a few minutes later…

black smoke starts pouring everywhere.

My client looks around and asks:

“Hey… is that your motor oil over there?”

Turns out it was.

Which means that guy gets to learn how to rebuild that engine all over again.

And it reminded me of something.

You can do almost everything right…

but if you miss one important piece…

you end up starting over.
