How Often Do You Need To Build Bone?

How often do you need to exercise to build bone?

I think the simple answer is:

More.

First, you need to move more often.

If you’re coming from doing very little, even something like walking is a step in the right direction.

Then, you need to start moving heavier things.

At some point, your body gets used to just carrying itself around.

That’s when we need to add what the college people call “external load.”

And finally…

you need to move faster.

Once you’ve earned it, that can look like jumping.

But much like an airplane…

it’s the landing that matters most.

That’s where the signal is.

That’s what builds bone.

And from there… the question becomes:

How much bone do you want to build?

Because wherever you are right now…

the answer is usually:

More than you’re doing today.

Just with enough judgment to not add too much, too fast.

Still Waiting Until Your Body “Gets Worse” Before You Do Something About It?

That’s how most people lose the game.

They wait until the stiffness becomes pain. They wait until the weakness becomes limitation. They wait until simple things start feeling harder than they should.

Look — if you’re over 50, you do not need another cute little fitness article and a vague promise that “staying active” is enough. You need a plan. A smart one. One built for the body you have now… and the life you still want to live.

That’s exactly what I do at Stowe Personal Training here in Austin. I help adults over 50 get stronger, move better, and stay out of pain — without beating up their joints or throwing them into workouts made for people half their age.
