Happy Saturday!
Though I’m writing this on the 4th—while brisket’s in the smoker, and rain is pouring sideways here in Austin.
Ella’s been cracking me up lately.
Every time we step outside, she shouts:
“It Haught!”
(Sounds exactly like Cartman from South Park if you’ve ever seen it.)
Then she yells: “Fly!”
Which—thanks to me—means I have to throw her 30 times in the air while she squeals with joy.
(Yes, I now factor “flying reps” into my own workouts.)
I was going to write about the parenting lessons in that…
But honestly?
What’s on my mind is just how different my little studio is.
And why that difference matters more than ever.
Most people think they need to “get fit” before they start.
Or that strength training is only for the young and already athletic.
Or that pain is just part of the deal after 50.
None of that’s true.
And it’s exactly why I’ve built something that doesn’t scale.
Because the kind of results I get with clients in their 50s, 60s, and 70s?
They don’t come from cookie-cutter workouts or big gyms.
They come from coaching.
From someone who actually sees you.
Understands your body.
And builds a plan that works for it—not against it.
It’s why I’ve got clients in their 70s—literal grandmothers—who are stronger than guys in their 40s.
Not “strong for their age.”
Stronger, period.
I’ve had to take plates off the bar for younger guys who just joined (back issues, you know?)—because Grandma’s already repping it out.
You can’t mass-produce that kind of result.
You can’t fake that kind of strength.
And to be honest, I wouldn’t want to.
Because this work is personal.
Helping someone move without pain…
Get their confidence back…
Or throw their grandkid in the air without worrying about their back?
