[What does a rock and a pond have to do with our training philosophy?]
When we design programs for our clients we like to take advantage of something called the kinetic chain.
For those of you who haven’t heard the term “kinetic chain” before; it basically means that the body is one muscle.
Your thumbs are connected to your toes more or less….
However, when most folks think of the kinetic chain they literally think of a chain.
Instead of this imagery we prefer to think of throwing a rock into a pond.
When the rock lands in the pond it creates ripples.
In this analogy, the rock is your core (abs, glutes, upper back).
As the muscles get stronger we will have a ripple effect that enhances the lower and upper body.
This can be true not only for strength but flexibility as well.
So there you go.
How throwing a rock in a pond influences our training philosophy!
